SIR – Regarding George Galloway’s response to the new initiative by Bradford Council. I was always lead to believe that only sheep bleat, however, over the weekend we have seen the MP for Bradford West bleating louder than any sheep simply because an initiative to attempt to create jobs is being put forward by Bradford Council (T&A, June 15).

It is easy to criticise from the sidelines, and this is what George Galloway is good at, but the leader of Bradford Council, David Green, deserves the fullest support from all the city’s MPs for this attempt to give a little hope to Bradford.

Let’s not forget that the whole of the textile industry left Bradford, plus the heavy engineering industry following the closure of the railway goods depot. With no assistance from the British or European Government as seen by other areas of the country, we should give David Green and this new initiative our full support, and Mr Galloway should be fighting to highlight the needs of this city in Westminster.
