SIR – There they were, the anti-monarchy protesters, directly opposite Traitor’s Gate. What an ideal place to protest. Four hundred years ago, they’d have been thrown into the tower.
Why were these people not lined up further up river among the flag-waving crowd? Why were they taken to a corner alone to wave their banners? Probably it was for their own safety, as they would have been thrown into the Thames. But why were they even allowed to protest?
Okay, there are probably a few more out there who are against the monarchy, but there were a million supporters lined up waving their flags who love our Queen and another five million sat watching TV.
When it comes to celebrating something, we British know how to do it. They don’t have parties like the one outside Buckingham Palace anywhere else in the world.
If you don’t want a Queen go and live in another country.
God bless our Queen and all she stands for, and to blazes with the protesters. “To the tower” with them.
