SIR – With regard to the letter from J Citmhell (T&A, June 11), I have left out unused charity bags on several occasions for collection and reuse. However, I have given up as they are invariably left behind by the bag collectors.
A polite notice in the window by the letter box requesting charity bags not to be left is ignored by the distributors as they are often too busy listening to their iPods or talking on their mobile phones.
Why can’t you opt out of the system like you are able to for unsolicited advertising material?
