SIR – Re the proposed closure of Red House Museum, Gomersal, by Kirklees Council – it appears that they have been influenced by Bradford Council.

Let’s dispose of our heritage, knock it down (as per Swan Arcade etc), then employ Westfield to ‘regenerate’ the site, or sell it off to some rich capitalist, probably a banker in receipt of huge bonus payments.

It is said that £116,000 is needed yearly to keep the museum open. I would suggest that if the councillors curtailed their expenses claims this amount would be readily available and they would be seen as caring and moralistic!

Some hope!
