SIR – One of my idiosyncrasies is feeling elated at other people’s achievements, especially if they come from Yorkshire.
Such was the case when I read that Royal Naval Commander Tim Neild had taken charge of the Royal Navy warship HMS Argyll, saying it was the pinnacle of his career (T&A, June 8).
The 40-year-old comes from Ilkley and his parents and brother still live in the area. They must be over the moon.
