SIR – Do David Cameron, George Osborne and their sidekicks have any working brain cells between them?

When by bringing into force a reduction of child tax credits, and parents with more than one child are now having to work an extra eight hours before they are eligible for working tax credit, they are ensuring even more families will be forced below the poverty line.

Regarding the working tax credit, three questions need to be asked. Where will the extra eight hours of work come from? Who will provide the extra child care? Where will the extra money come form to pay for it?

Working parents are being penalised for choosing to work and provide for their children. These tax credits are essential to working parents.

Without it, many will feel they would be better off not working, as this Government hasn’t given them any other choice. As per usual, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
