SIR – When I read the article (T&A, April 9) on brass door knob thefts in the Shipley area, I had to check the date. Was this an article carried forward from April Fools’ Day? No, it was a serious article which police are looking into.
“NPT officers have been stepping up patrols around homes near the A650 over Easter in response to thefts, and are also conducting house-to-house inquiries”.
Has this world gone completely MAD? Ten thefts of this kind in one month alone, I assume this is in the whole Shipley area. Wow, hardly a crime of the century, I think.
Could someone please tell me the cost of this extra police work? I bet my best door knob it’s a lot more than giving victims a new set of knobs, or even just the one from the outside of the door.
