The local elections will soon be upon us, and election placards are now starting to appear everywhere.

What, one wonders, are we to make of the Liberal Democrat placards seen across Baildon which announce “Liberal Democrats Winning Here”?

These appear to give the impression of taking the Baildon electorate for granted, and simply expecting the return of another Lib Dem councillor as a fait accompli.

With long-standing Lib Dem councillor John Cole retiring, one might ask whether this apparent premature triumphalism may come back to haunt them?
