SIR – We have just received our water bill for 2012/13, With the cost of all the public utilities services going up so much, I decided to read my bill in more detail than I usually do.
We are in council tax band B, with a total of £491.83. Then I noticed we were being charged £42.47 for surface water – this apparently is for removing the water which falls on to my property (rain) and drains into a public sewer.
So if I connected my fall pipe into a water butt, would this charge cease?
I would like to hear what others think on this matter.
