SIR – I am writing as me and my partner were clamped at Changegate car park after a day in Haworth. We were reportedly parked over the line, but I have photos to show we were on the line. The lines themselves are very unclear and once parked can only be seen if you look under the car.

The car next to us was parked on the line but was not clamped. We were charged £90. When we parked, two men at the car park were clearly looking at my car and I was wondering what they were looking at.

If it was dangerous, causing an obstruction, etc where I was parked, they should have said there and then that there was a problem, but they didn’t. I have never been clamped before so don’t know, but £90 seems a little high.

I realise that I am probably going to get nowhere with a complaint, but feel that something needs to be done to stop the clamping of all these tourists. I saw at least two other cars clamped while I was there.

I will not be visiting again, and I will not be taking my Australian relatives in the summer as planned, and I will be warning my friends and family against visiting.
