SIR – In his column (T&A, October 5), Keith Thomson comments on our overall dislike of wind turbines and thinks that future residents of planet Earth will wonder what all the fuss was about.

I feel and fear it will be obvious that pylons provided us and coped well with our energy needs, unlike wind turbines that could not possibly supply us with enough energy.

All the money wasted on them should be channelled into dependable nuclear power. Pylons compared with pathetic-looking turbines look rather majestic.
