SIR - My wife and I read the article Chips in bins may monitor recycling' (T&A, August 30).

Having read "How it works" two or three times, we fail to agree with each other as to what it means - apologies if we are being stupid.

We do not possess, nor have we room for bins for recyclable waste so all recyclable waste (tins, plastics, bottles, papers, cardboard, clothing) goes into boxes and bags, and is taken to our local waste disposal site weekly.

Does this mean that our wheelie waste bin will be given a gross weight and possible penalties for those not seen to be recycling enough?
