SIR - How many readers managed to catch the TV programme 30 Minutes, presented by Digby Jones, the director general of the CBI.

There were so many stories going around about the migration of Poles and if they were sponging or working, so he decided to find out.

He went all around Britain and found out that 95 per cent were in full-time employment and were paying their taxes and insurance.

When he asked them what they did in Poland (or were qualified to do) there were teachers, psychologists, PE teachers. They weren't doing their jobs. In Slough they were working on farms, but were happy to do so.

When asked if they would stay or go back home, some said they would like to go back home when their country got back on its feet, hopefully with the help of the EU.

Digby Jones then went to Scotland, where he found them packing fish in ice. They were laughing and joking and their boss said they were great workers, good timekeepers.

Then he met some builders in London who were doing an extension on a Tory MP's house. The MP said "They are the best builders, reliable, on time and the job will be right."

I only wish the British youth would adopt their work ethic. Truth is they won't have it.
