SIR – Could 2011 see the end of good, old-fashioned common sense and a final descent into total madness?
Bradford Council has left the city the butt of jokes (Is it true that Bradford has knocked down its shops and built a garden in the city centre?).
Well another travesty, an equally-crazy thing, could transpire if the Council pass the most ludicrous planning application most of us have ever seen – the development of at least 400 houses in Micklethwaite.
Imagine the planning meeting: “How about we build houses in an area where access at present is totally inadequate?”
“Where there is an abundance of wildlife.”
“Where it will join a lovely hamlet to an urban conurbation.”
“In an area where there is a lot accommodation still empty.”
“Where the schools are already bursting at the seams.”
“In a place of natural beauty.”
“How about between Micklethwaite and Bingley?” “Great! That seems to fit all the criteria. Lets go for it.”
