SIR – I am grateful to Brian Pickford (Letters, June 6) for picking up the error which had my reference to Norman Lane as Norman Road. Similarly, I am happy to avoid the description of Harrogate Road as “death road”.
However, I continue to applaud the construction of the new islands.
This road is a major hurdle for motorists trying to cross it at peak times, let alone pedestrians.
The new islands make little difference to overall journey times because motorists get stuck at Greengates lights come what may.
The proposed improvements there have been delayed by the cutbacks just like the Norman Lane scheme. We need to keep up the pressure to improve things for both motorists and pedestrians in this area.
