SIR – Closing the Whetley Hill Resource Centre (T&A, May 30) would be a disaster for its clients. For my brother Max, this wonderful facility has been a life-enhancing experience for the past 20 years.
Meeting the same friends and staff in this stimulating and caring environment is what Max and his friends will miss. Max even loves the bus trip to what he calls “work”.
For Janice Simpson from Operational Services to say that a more personalised service could be provided is to completely miss the point; and for Councillor Amin to state that nobody will be worse off is frankly ridiculous.
As with all cuts, people do suffer. In this case it will be some of the most needy in our community. A serious re-think is required.
