SIR – I could not agree more with Ian Dickinson (Letters, June 6).

I believe he is referring to the view which is sometimes used on the BBC TV local weather forecast, about which I have previously written to the T&A, saying it made Bradford look quite classy.

I often see in the T&A promotions for trips to see famous acts in Manchester or Sheffield.

The Odeon could hold 3,000 people and it is not in such a bad condition as we have been lead to believe.

Why don’t we have people coming here instead? Other cities, such as Leeds, are refurbishing their old buildings to retain a bit of character, but we always miss the boat.

Why do we need yet more offices, flats and hotel rooms when we have more than we can fill now? And there are flats at the bottom of Manchester Road and the Premier Inn near Leeds Road in the pipeline.

Langtree Artisan are sure they can fill their development – which I doubt – but if they do, it can only leave us with a lot more empty buildings.
