SIR – My grandson is in 3 Para, and I have just been reading the article ‘Pay blow for soldiers’ (T&A, June 2).
Twice my grandson has had a brush with death; the second time only a few weeks ago when a bullet flew past this face, so close, he thought it had taken his teeth.
What a reward for putting one’s life on the line – to have their pay cut. Those who make these decisions would do well to have a spell on the frontline. They may not be so quick then to come up with some of their decisions.
