Bradford planning department should look at the wonderful photographs of the wildlife that Ann Miller, a local photographer, has taken showing moorhens, geese, ducks and Canada geese in flight, that are on show today and tomorrow on the canal towpath by the bridge at Micklethwaite.
It is her way of protesting against the building of 400 houses that would destroy the habitat of these birds, and as she says future generations will miss out on the wildlife at Greenhill.
Many people come everyday to feed the birds and observe their behaviour while walking alongside the canal. Bradford planners should also look at the unveiling of several pieces of new legislation which will have an impact on nature in the UK, including the Natural Environment White Paper and a newly-revamped planning system. The Government has shown it is open to a new way of thinking by launching a report that will ask local councils etc to value nature in its decisions on development.
