SIR – I am currently training to compete in an Ironman triathlon in Nice, France, on June 26, 2011.
This event will consist of a 2.4-mile swim in the sea and a 112-mile bike leg followed by a 26.2-mile marathon run. I am aiming to finish the event in under 14 hours.
I am hoping to raise a significant amount of money for the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. It provides palliative care for those living in the Airedale, Craven and central, northern and western parts of Bradford.
It offers a full range of advice, support and treatment for people who are living at home and for those who require in-patient care.
The hospice works closely with the patient’s family, GPs and nurses in the community. It relies heavily on donations and needs to raise £2.1 million a year to maintain its services.
My grandfather and grandmother both received excellent care from the doctors and nurses working at the hospice in their final months. I am raising the money for the hospice in their memory.
I would like to invite readers to sponsor me. Making a donation is easy by visiting the website justgiving.com/SamuelFuller.
