SIR - The article highlighting the lack of equipment for British troops in Iraq (T&A, August 11) inspires me to write.
The deaths of Sergeant Christian Hickey and Sergeant Steve Roberts, right, are examples of how the government has cut corners and totally mishandled the war in Iraq, plus the fact that the war is illegal and without UN backing is making it much more dangerous for our troops.
The lack of vital equipment therefore is unacceptable by any standards. The government surely must have been aware of possible setbacks and problems, but failed to act.
If our troops cannot be looked after properly or supplied with the right equipment, I suggest Mr Blair does what he should have done a long time ago and bring our lads back home, before many more are killed and more mistakes are made.
