SIR – I read recently where workers at a waste site searched for an iPod someone had thrown away by accident and it has prompted me to write as I had a similar incident occur.
The Monday before Christmas, I decided to have a clear out and I inadvertently put a small bag with a Christmas present from my lady and a card in the rubbish. The bag had a Father Christmas on it.
I went to the clearing station, but was told the rubbish would already have been taken to landfill, possibly in the Skipton area.
I realise there are people who scour landfill sites with metal detectors and I thought it worth reaching out to see if anyone has come across the bag.
The bag was red and white. The card read: “to Allen from Jo”. The present inside is an old box in which there is a metal set of WWII USAF pilot’s wings.
It is very important to us as we do WWII re-enactment. She is an English lady and I portray a US War Correspondent – a WWII love story set in the present day as we met at Pickering 1940’s weekend in 2007.
I hope by some miracle this can be found.
