SIR – Would it not be a good idea to use the excess money from the National Lottery in order to get the country out of this monetary disaster?

It is an indirect tax which people don’t mind paying as there is a slight chance of winning a life-changing amount of money, ( well, the occasional tenner if you’re lucky) and let’s face it, what greater ‘good cause’ is there? Has nobody heard of consolidation?
