SIR – Recently, two staff members of a hunt have become the latest convicts under the Hunting Act, following an undercover investigation by the League Against Cruel Sports operations team.

With police resources stretched to the limit, not least by funding cuts, the League is proud to be contributing to the ‘Big Society’ by acting as a rural equivalent of the Neighbourhood Watch.

Several times each week, we monitor the activities of hunts up and down the country, using state-of-the-art technology to record any breaches of the law, and your readers have an important part to play in this prevention of hunt crime.

We rely on the public to supply us with information on where and when hunts are meeting, and we urge people to report anything to our Hunt Crimewatch line.

Meet cards, overheard pub conversations, information from Facebook – every detail helps us crack down on illegal hunting.

Our Hunt Crimewatch number is 01483 524250 and e-mail info@huntcrimewatch.com.
