SIR – It was with fear and trepidation that I awaited the dreaded car insurance renewal date.
I had read so many accounts in your reports and letters column that I knew a big increase was a probability.
Sure enough, from £662 last year, I was asked for £900 plus this year.
So I turned to the trusty internet comparison sites which offered cover at substantially less.
I signed up for only £547, and have actually paid less than last year. The insurance company is a well-known name.
Even though I’m pleased with the outcome, friends who live in other areas unblighted by a BD postcode remain incredulous about the high premium.
Nonetheless, it has paid to shop around, and I would advise others to do the same.
