SIR – Bruce Forsyth said: “...and the winners of Strictly Come Dancing for 2010 are Kara Tointon and Artem Chievintsev”, but in reality all the viewers who followed this series, from start to finish, have been the winners.
I feel this year’s Strictly was the best-ever but what has made it so? Bruce and Tessa always get the programme off to a flying start and the high standard of entertainment is there from start to finish.
The mix of celebrities proved to be a winning combination, and Ann Widdecombe, who could not dance, but did her best, broke all records for lowest scores but was kept in by the viewers until they decided enough was enough. The judges gave their expert opinions but often the viewers had the last say. The band and singers were excellent with the dresses, costumes and lighting being truly memorable.
I feel that Strictly has been the BBC’s showpiece in the field of light entertainment. The three finalists included Pamela Stevenson, who was old enough to have a bus pass, but was a worthy finalist. Matt Baker, who was very popular, has a farming background, but Kara Tointon, who danced like a professional, proved to be a worthy winner.
