SIR – Having read the letter from Mrs Raistrick (T&A, December 2), I would like to point out that Jean Walker is batting for people like me.

I have a mobile phone just for emergencies, no stored numbers, and it would be nice if, like Mrs Raistrick, we had everything at our finger tips.

Firstly, I can’t afford laptops and computers to go online, I don’t want to. Don’t tell me to go and learn or go to the library – I am happy as I am.

I was brought up in the Second World War, I’m used to just reading notices and asking questions and also do two voluntary jobs.

So I’m not daft, but find a lot of things confusing, especially telephones – when you are told press one, then two, then three, when they get to five and put the phone down.

I’m very surprised at Keith Nathens comments he made in the T&A about the change in phone numbers.

And good luck to Jean Walker – she sends us a newsletter and is trying her best to get a centre for old people in Bradford.
