SIR – The comments of Bradford East MP David Ward (T&A, October 27) regarding transferring responsibility now for the Odeon’s future from Yorkshire Forward to the Council, echo my feelings and those of many other Bradfordians.

If this were to be done, and the existing demolition order was rescinded in favour of restoration – at least of the outer shell – then there would be no need to leave this prime Bradford site mouldering for another 18 months, awaiting a decision on its fate following the impending abolition of Yorkshire Forward in March 2012.

This would then avoid having to camouflage the current sorry state of the Odeon when the proposed opening of the City Park occurs in 2011.

Surely this is what Bradford councillors would prefer, and, having now been made aware of the Bradford public’s strength of feeling regarding this much-loved building, they should now accede to the wishes of their voters and reconsider their original misguided decision.

Anyone can see that this would then transform at least one corner of the city into an area of which we could be proud.
