Sir While sitting outside Lloyds Bar in the glorious sunshine on Saturday, July 15, enjoying the atmosphere of Youth Festival, my husband and I were very shocked to overhear a member of staff asking adults with children to leave or to go and sit upstairs. The reason being the pub only has a licence for children to drink upstairs. This caused lots of disappointment for families.
I do not have children myself but I would appreciate an answer of why children can only go upstairs on the premises?
Also I think Lloyds Bar could do better at advertising the fact to avoid families being asked to move, with the weather being so hot.
Mrs V Walker, Carr Street, Bankfoot, Bradford COMMENT A spokeswoman for Lloyds No.1 Bar said that as the bar was for all types of clientele and not just families, drinkers with children were generally asked to use the upstairs room which is non-smoking as part of owner J D Wetherspoon's general policies.
