SIR Do you think that if the people involved in the Enron affair had not been affluent middle class bankers, but working-class types from the back streets of Leeds or Liverpool or some sprawling council estate in Bradford, they'd have received the same sympathy from the media?

I don't. It's true the extradition treaty with the US is loaded in America's favour, but hey, don't you know we have a very special relationship with Americans? They do what they want, we do what we're told; they praise and we wag our tails in delight.

They get away with it because our media, dominated by American worshipper Rupert Murdoch, always gives the impression that all our problems originate in Brussels, but most of them from obesity, crime and wars in the Middle East aimed at making life easier for America's real best mate Israel originate in Washington and Los Angeles.

But we're European, try and remember that, it's good for us.
