Sir – In response to D Rhodes’s letter (September 13), I am sure everybody out there can produce takeaway food cheaper at home.

I thought the concept of a takeaway meal is a treat. Those who are willing to pay, do so for the luxury of not having to cook and wash up.

And, of course, takeaways are going to make a profit. Would he consider cooking fish and chips for me and my family at the cost of just the ingredients? I think not!
