SIR – The BBC certainly made sure that none of us missed its coverage of the Leeds United’s opening match of the season, as it was imposed upon us from every direction.

Radio Leeds, Five Frequencies, plus DAB and online, Radio Five Live, two frequencies, BBC1 TV, analogue and digital, plus interactive, simulcasting is an unnecessary waste of resources, and the corporation should be made to realise that some of us are not, in the least, interested in sport.

Radio Leeds is the worst perpetrator, with sport, on some Saturdays, broadcast for eight hours, without a break, with all the frequencies the station has available.

At least one, in all fairness to its listeners, could be set aside for alternative programming. We are all licence payers, and entitled to better.
