SIR – I am sorry to hear that TV star Geoffrey Hughes, Coronation Street’s Eddie Yeats, is battling cancer after the disease returned. He was in the Alhambra pantomime of 1975-76, and he is a very nice man. I send my best wishes to him and his family.
