SIR – The police and Bradford Council have issued an undated letter without contact details or signatures which forecasts that two protest groups are likely to visit Bradford in August.

I want neither the EDL nor the UAF to visit our city and try to ram their philosophies down our throats, and I have growing concerns of divisions among us.

The picture in the T&A (August 2) showed mainly Labour councillors and supporters from the heart of the city, and did nothing to show the richness of the population of the district. I wait with interest to check if the mass petition has obtained a more representative support.

Ban or no ban, these two groups will descend upon us, so the quicker diversionary events are organised, the better for all.

Why not ring the heart of the city with some mini-fun and family events, in areas such as Lister Park, Horton Park, Wibsey Park, Harold Park, Bowling Park, Peel Park and not forgetting Myrtle Park and Victoria Park, together with the added temptation for families across the district of free swimming and sports facilities?

To complete the virtuous circle, the very many different religious organisations should open their doors to demonstrate concord and harmony.
