SIR – Why is it only now (T&A, July 2) that we learn it would have cost Yorkshire Forward £95,000 in legal expenses for the privilege of lending the developer £6 million of our money, so that a company whose business it is to lend money could move its location a few hundred yards?

Now that Yorkshire Forward have to reallocate their reduced money and choose not to pay, why should it be our Council and not the developer who has to cough up?

The best solution would be to tell the solicitors to whistle for their money which, in the interest of past and potential future lucrative business from Bradford, they are likely to accept.
