SIR – The City Park looks like it’s going to have a shortfall of £1.3 million, which is five per cent of the specified cost.

Therefore, those involved in the project should be asked to reduce their prices by five per cent.

The artist’s impression in the T&A (July 1) was out of date, as the Government will not sanction the £60m for a new Magistrates Court, so the existing court and cells in half a police station will remain for the foreseeable future.

This will stymie the £55m Business Forest which a Council report stated was needed so that the City Park could achieve its potential.

Locum Consultants were paid £24,964 for stating the obvious – that Bradford has to attract the middle class with significant disposable incomes.

They contend that the £24m cost of the City Park is relatively small in the context of quality of life and economic benefits.

The director of regeneration who commissioned this report should have required the financial benefits and pay-back to be quantified so that he could present factual evidence to justify spending the “relatively small” £24m.
