SIR – It was good to read (T&A, June 30), of the keen interest of youngsters in gardening as part of their environmental studies.
I hope, however, that these also include the economic effects involved, especially for poorer nations, whose very existence depends on their being able to export food to wealthier ones.
This was brought to light in a wonderful programme on BBC1 on Monday, Jimmy’s Food Factory.
The presenter of the programme, Jimmy Doherty, said that the making of the programme had made him think differently about only buying home-grown food.
