SIR – It’s a busy time in politics isn’t it? We’ve had a budget with more cuts than a barber’s shop scissors.

George Osborne has spelled out where the cuts are going to be in the public sector. They are going to cut benefits to some unemployed who don’t deserve them, but there are a lot of genuine people who rely on the benefits they get.

It’s also a contradiction to say they are going to get people into jobs. Where is the investment?

Over the last 35 years this country has gone downhill and not replaced the loss of manufacturing jobs in the North. More cuts by Bradford Council will affect the regeneration plans for the city.

The fight for survival has only just begun for Yorkshire and the North.
