SIR – I work for Volunteer Reading Help, a charity that has been training volunteers to work in local primary schools for more than ten years, helping children to improve their literacy.

Firstly, I would like to say a very big thank you to all our volunteers across Bradford who give their time every week to work with the children.

I’m so pleased the valuable contribution they make to the local community was recognised recently at the Bradford Volunteering Awards.

They were all very worthy winners of the Organisational Impact award, made in recognition of the exceptional impact our volunteering activities have made on the local community.

VRH always needs more people to volunteer to work with children in the Bradford area.

If you could spare three hours a week to give one-to-one help to children in local primary schools who struggle with reading please contact us.

No qualifications are necessary, just a love of books and a willingness to help children by reading, talking and playing games, as full training will be given.
