SIR – Countless cities around the world have wonderful water features fronting iconic buildings, yet Peter A Rushforth thinks it is ridiculous that Bradford should be constructing a mirror pool around the City Hall (T&A, June 15).
He believes it will cost a fortune to keep it clear of supermarket trolleys and other rubbish. When did he last see one of those metal baskets on wheels dumped on terra firma never mind in water?
Aesthetically it will enhance the area and hopefully entice more visitors. If plans for the mirror pool had been scrapped to save money, the Telegraph & Argus would have been inundated with letters from irate readers excoriating Bradford Council.
No doubt Mr Rushforth was also against laying new setts and flagstones in nearby streets as well as the £6 million loan to complete the Southgate Complex. The Westfield Project might have been temporarily aborted but the Council is forging ahead regardless.
