SIR – It was a treat to read about Dennis Delaney’s memories of Clayton Methodist Cricket Club (T&A, June 15).
I too have fond memories of watching cricket on that ground, with the converted hen hut to change in.
It also means a lot to me, because on that very ground is where, one Saturday afternoon in July, 1961, I met my wife of 45 years.
Since then, both my daughter and I umpired on that ground, and my son, when in his teens, played many games there, albeit for an opposing team.
Yes, happy memories indeed.
