SIR – It is with a sad heart that I support our country’s Trident nuclear defence system.
Yes, the cost is astronomical, our country is flat-broke and our infrastructure is at breaking point, but when I think of Iran and other countries of its ilk, the old Chinese proverb comes to mind – never dare a fool.
Should the unthinkable happen and we have no defence, it would not matter about our infrastructure or even being crippled with debt – we just would not be here at all.
Only getting rid of all nuclear warheads on the planet will solve this problem. Yes, let’s get rid of our nuclear defence, not as a freebie, but tied in with Iran and others wanting to build there own nuclear weapons.
Hopefully fools could turn-out to be wise men.
