SIR – Does sport matter to Bradford? Two years ago it was disappointing to learn that the Team GB squad to the Beijing Olympics did not contain a single Bradford citizen.
More recently we’ve had the sad (if rather predicable) news about the Odsal Sporting Village.
Now I read that the city’s football team have to travel to neighbouring Leeds to train.
In your editorial comment (T&A, April 22), you mention “the place where City’s players train is perhaps not that important in the great scheme of things”.
I disagree. That thinking might be okay for the footballers at City, but not for Bradford’s future sportsmen and women.
These will come from today’s children, but without first-class local training facilities I fear that future British Olympic squads with remain free of Bradford citizens! Denis Jones, Ballantyne Road, Bradford
