SIR – So now we hear that our unique jewel in the crown, Shipley Glen Cable Tramway, will not reopen for another two months, despite having been closed since 2008 (T&A, April 20).

This really does heap yet more shame on the Bradford district – especially on our council leaders, who should, once more, hold their heads in shame.

They have been happy to spend vast sums elsewhere, but not move heaven and earth to ensure that any tramway closure was short-lived, especially bearing in mind its relationship to Saltaire World Heritage Site.

The money and workforce should surely have been urgently provided long ago?

That it was not, tells us what a useless Council we currently have, with priorities totally against those of so many of its citizens.

We all continue to be badly let down time and again.
