SIR – Is Bradford’s failure down to ‘too many cooks?’ Bradford has more councillors than larger and more successful cities around the world.

Sydney, Australia has only 20, while Canada’s Capital, Ottawa has 24. America’s Capital, Washington has only 13, while one of the world’s largest Cities, New York has 51.

Yet a small backwater place that few people throughout the world will have heard of (Bradford), needs 90.

If Bradford were to come into line with the rest of the world, then the number of councillors would be in single figures.

Why does it take ten Bradford councillors to do the same work as one American? Why should Bradfordians pay 90 people to do the work of 9?

What do Bradford people have to do to bring this city into line with the rest of the world, and make our Council successful?

How do we change the system, and cut their numbers to more sensible proportions?
