SIR – How pleasant to see interest in dry stone walling with a Country Land and Business Association competition (T&A, April 15).
I often think, as I travel around by bus, who began the miles of walls? Who owns them now, and who is responsible for their upkeep as some look very poorly?
The walls in the Wilsden and Sandy Lane area certainly require attention. Something more than a labour of love is urgent.
There are plenty of idle hands to be encouraged.
Well done, Country Land and Business Association regional director Dorothy Fairburn, and local volunteers.
Bill Edmondson, Royd Street, Wilsden
