SIR – Various readers suggest older Bradfordians like myself are living in the past about the Odeon.
Well, yes, I remember it being the New Victoria. My father, when on leave in the war, as a treat took my brother and I to the afternoon pictures and then tea in the restaurant, or if not a milk shake at Farmer Giles (Tyrrel Street), all nostalgic.
But what do the objectors want – a concrete and glass high-rise. People come to see unusual buildings, not something they can see in any town.
So let’s keep the towers, building something modern in between if necessary. This will attract tourism.
I am not living in the past, I am looking to the future of Bradford.
