SIR – In reply to Ms Lynne Smith (Letters, April 12). Okay, she’s been to Zimbabwe, she’s seen the devastation and all the effects of Robert Mugabe’s regime. We all know about it. The point is, do we want to let our politicians go the way of Mugabe?
My reason for writing was the way in which our government has plummeted to the depths of avarice, deception and corruption. This I likened to the governments of other countries, Zimbabwe to name but one.
If the current government system is not stopped, it could follow in Zimbabwe’s footsteps. Think about it, other governments in the past have done similar things.
Yes, I know my comments would attract severe penalties in Zimbabwe, that’s why I don’t want that type of regime here. I don’t want this, nor does any other sentient being, for I enjoy the freedom we have (at present) in this country.
But Ms Smith is a councillor, so is already on the gravy train to becoming and MP.
