SIR – Bradford Council’s chief executive Tony Reeves blatantly dodges the main question within John Pashley’s letter (T&A, January 11), and fails to give any direct assurance that Jacobs Well’s Council personnel will not be relocated within the ‘Grade A’ offices of New Victoria Place – should it ever be constructed.
Mr Reeves’s response about a misguided commitment to Westfield does nothing to dispel the circulating rumours, nor my distrust.
Yorkshire Forward previously attempted to counter strong public opposition to New Victoria Place by stating it will bring outside investment and jobs to Bradford. BCR can be quoted as saying the scheme would be 100 per cent privately funded.
To position any Council department within it would severely undermine the integrity of both organisations.
Therefore, I request that Mr Reeves directly responds to this letter and offers an unequivocal public assurance that there will never be an occupancy of New Victoria Place by Bradford Council personnel.
