SIR – Philip Bird (Letters, October 16) fails to see how uninsured drivers are 12 times more likely to be involved in an accident!
As he says, the actual fact of being insured or not will not directly affect anyone’s chances of having an accident, but anyone who acts irresponsibly by not insuring their car could take the same attitude to its maintenance and the way they drive, and that could give rise to them having more accidents.
